London Calling’s all-new Museums & Galleries map hits the streets in December with 10,000 copies being distributed across over 200 display outlets in the West End, South Bank, and beyond. Featuring 34 of London’s galleries and museums, it’s the first in a series of pocket-sized visitor maps designed to showcase the best of London’s cultural offerings.
Why This Map Matters
The idea for the Museums & Galleries map came from direct feedback from our venue engagement team, who connect with hundreds of display outlets every week. They reported a real demand from information centres, hotels, cafes and restaurants for high-quality, easy-to-use maps to guide their visitors to London’s best cultural destinations. Recognising this need, we’ve created a product that not only meets this demand but also offers an exciting opportunity for cultural institutions to reach new audiences.
A Bespoke, High-Quality Product
We’re proud of the bespoke approach we’ve taken to create this map. Our in-house designer, George, has worked hard to craft a map that’s not only visually striking but also free of any copyright issues, ensuring all featured organisations have the chance to contribute a custom image or icon for their location marker, free of charge. This means that your venue will be represented in the way that best reflects its identity and mission.
To maintain the map’s high quality and creative control, we’ve made the decision to offer the reverse side of the map exclusively to one sponsor, rather than selling multiple advertising spaces. We’re thrilled to partner with Moco Museum — one of London’s newest and most exciting art museums — as our inaugural sponsor. Based in Marble Arch, Moco Museum presents iconic works by celebrated modern and contemporary artists, and their stunning artwork will feature on the back of the map, along with a QR code for easy ticket sales.
The Power of Print in Cultural Marketing
At London Calling, we’ve long believed in the power of print to connect audiences with cultural experiences. We work with hundreds of arts and leisure organisations across the UK to distribute promotional materials such as leaflets and posters, and we’ve seen firsthand how effective print can be in driving action.
We recently commissioned our friends at The Audience Agency to explore consumer attitudes to print via their Cultural Participation Monitor. The results were positive: 20% of respondents had picked up a leaflet from a display rack, with 19% of those going on to book tickets. Moreover, 54% of people then visited a website to find more information, while 42% saved the leaflet for later or shared it with a friend. The data underscores the value of print as a medium that inspires real-world action. For cultural organisations, having a physical presence in the form of our map offers a valuable opportunity to engage with new audiences and drive ticket sales.
Sustainability
We know that sustainability is a core value for our clients, so our maps are designed and produced with this in mind. They are printed on demand, using environmentally friendly vegetable-based inks on paper sourced from FSC-certified forests, ensuring that they are both high-quality and eco-conscious.
Opportunities for Sponsorship
As we look ahead to 2025, we’re planning to expand the map series with new editions, including versions focused on West End theatres and visitor attractions.
If your organisation is interested in joining the London Calling map project, we can include your listing and map icon free of charge.
For more exposure, sponsorship opportunities are available starting from £1500 + VAT. This includes:
- A full-size A3 poster on the reverse of the map
- Logo placement on the map cover
- A highlighted listing with details of your venue
- 50 unfolded A3 posters
- Distribution to over 200 venues in Central London via London Calling’s targeted print display networks.
Sponsoring the map provides an invaluable chance to showcase your institution to an engaged and culturally savvy audience, while also aligning your brand with some of the best cultural experiences London has to offer.
